Kevin O’Connor is in North Asheville where Will Nicholson is putting some final touches to the entryway of homeowner Paula’s house.
Kevin heads upstairs to look at the carpeting she chose. He heads to the carpet capital of the world in Dalton, Georgia to meet with Rob Neal, seeing firsthand how carpet is made in the large factory. From polyester chips to the finished product, the entire process happens under one roof.
Meanwhile in Swannanoa, Zack Dettmore is back to help project manager Noah Swaty install a butcher block counter in homeowner Miah’s kitchen. After checking to make sure the block is square, they cut the piece to size to allow for a slight overhang, and then they install it on the kitchen island.
Over in North Asheville, Jenn Nawada meets with landscape architect Jennifer Verprauskus to see the progress of their front yard landscaping plans. Together they begin planting the boulder wall with succulent plants. They need to use a different type of soil for the boulder wall plantings because the native soil alone doesn’t drain well.
Inside, Kevin meets with electrician Mario Salamone who is working on under-cabinet lighting for floating shelves in the kitchen. Mario demonstrates his preferred approach of using LED tape lights with remote transformers located in the basement for accessibility, contrasting it with traditional methods. Together they work through the soldering and installation process, showing how proper lighting can enhance both function and ambiance in the rebuilt kitchen.
